WEEDS AND BRUSH

Weeds and brush:  It shall be unlawful for any person owning or occupying property in the City to allow weeds or brush to grow on the property to a height exceeding 8 inches, or regardless of height, to remain on the property in an unsightly manner.  It shall be a defense to a violation of this section if the plant matter in question constitutes:

1.      Regularly cultivated ornamental, fruit-bearing, vegetable-bearing, or flowering plants, bushes, or trees;

2.      Regularly cultivated crops grown on property that is classified as agriculture exempt according to the tax rolls of the county;

3.      Pasture lands on property that is classified as agriculture exempt according to the tax rolls of the country;

4.      Heavily wooded property or property with steep slopes, on which mowing equipment cannot reasonably be used; or

5.      Property which the city weed commissioner grants exception. Exceptions to the resolution may be granted by the Weed Commissioner for any land zoned Residential /  Agriculture, any land declared floodway, water runoff areas, wet lands and special consideration areas of natural grass or woodland, relieving property owners of this resolution with regards to grasses and weeds controlled.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND CENTER APPOINTING “WEED COMMISSIONERS” FOR 2005 UNDER WISCONSIN STATUTE 66.0407

 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL as follows:

NOXIOUS WEEDS.  All noxious weeds, as defined in §66.0407, Wis. Stats., and any other weed the governing body of  the  municipality declares to be noxious within the its respective  boundaries.    The City  may cause all weeds and grass to be cut and removed  and the cost thereof  charged to the property owner under §66.0627, Wis. Stats
